Dance Victoria’s Chrystal Dance Prize committee announced today that it is has awarded $40,000 to two international collaborations. The committee is providing $30,000 in support of Vancouver’s OURO Collective’s project with LA dance artist RubberLegz entitled 7y98D. The commission will assist the collective in realizing an ambitious program that includes the production of a short film and live performance about climate change. In addition, the Chrystal Dance Prize is supporting Vancouver’s Ralph Escamillan, with a $10,000 award for the research and development of Piña, a collaboration with Phillipine artists.
